Manager I, Demand Planning
About the role
The Demand Planning Manager leads and develops a team of Demand Planners, ensuring they execute strategic demand planning, automated replenishment, inventory optimization, forecasting, and retail inventory execution. This role involves working closely with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Retail Partners, Merchandising, IT, and Analytics to align inventory strategies with customer service goals, maximize in-stock performance, and enhance inventory productivity.
Responsibilities
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Demand Planners through regular coaching, performance management, and career development.
Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Recruit, onboard, and retain top talent while building succession plans.
Develop KPIs and performance metrics for the team and conduct regular business reviews.
Serve as the primary escalation point for replenishment, forecasting, and inventory issues.
Influence cross-functional decisions and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
Own enterprise auto-replenishment strategy and replenishment logic across retail partners.
Lead inventory planning, forecasting, store profile management, planogram alignment, audit programs, and data governance.
Partner with operation system manager to improve automation, forecasting models, and replenishment systems.
Support new retailer implementations, product launches, merchandising changes, and continuous process improvement.
Develop executive dashboards and present recommendations to leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Finance, Analytics, or related field.
7+ years of progressive experience in demand planning, replenishment, inventory planning, or retail supply chain.
3+ years of direct people leadership with responsibility for hiring, coaching, developing, and evaluating employees.
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders.
Advanced Excel and experience with ERP, WMS, forecasting, or replenishment systems.
Preferred Experience
Experience supporting large national retailers.
Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar analytical tools.
Experience implementing automation or AI-driven forecasting solutions.
