About the role
The Manager, Healthcare Regulation will be a key member of the Company’s Legal Department and will oversee key healthcare regulatory compliance matters for the Company’s Senior Housing Operating Portfolio (SHOP), including licensure, government reimbursement program requirements and other regulatory matters affecting community operations.
Responsibilities
- Advising on and overseeing the regulatory aspects of acquisitions, dispositions and operator transitions, including efficiently and effectively overseeing the management of change of ownership applications and other federal and state regulatory filings
- Managing external counsel and third-party operators on healthcare regulatory compliance and related regulatory matters, including tracking healthcare licenses and compliance with licensure and government reimbursement program requirements
- Overseeing other regulatory matters affecting community operations, including ancillary permits and licenses, surveys, inspections and related compliance obligations
- Tracking regulatory developments impacting the Company’s SHOP portfolio
- Partnering and collaborating with business and legal colleagues, third-party operators, external advisors and other key business partners
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, public policy or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare regulatory compliance, including HIPAA, Medicare and Medicaid
- Must be located in the Chicago, IL, New York City, NY, or Louisville, KY surrounding area or willing to relocate for the duration of employment
- Willingness to adapt and thrive in a blended work environment with 3-days in office, seamlessly transitioning between remote work and in-office operations
- Prior experience in senior housing or skilled nursing is a plus, though not required
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, with the Company’s investments and asset management teams and with the Company’s third-party operators and external advisors
- Demonstrated project management capability, with the ability to translate strategy into execution
- Sound judgment, high ethical standards and excellent written and verbal communication skills

- In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, paid time off, and other wellness benefits under applicable plan terms.
Pay
The estimated base salary range for this position is $130,000 – $210,000 per year.
Schedule
This role is eligible for a flexible schedule with 3-days in office, seamlessly transitioning between remote work and in-office operations.
