Position Summary

Directs the development and implementation of programs intended to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths and financial losses.

  • Identifies and appraises conditions that could produce accidents and financial losses.
  • Evaluates the potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents and develops accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of the organization.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents.
  • Prepares reports to RiskPartners with finance group regarding risk management activities.
  • Develops and implements responses for risk management mitigation requirements related to compliance and risk reduction efforts as needed.
  • Responsible for safety systems within the facility including: fire alarms, sprinkler systems, evacuation alarms/annunciators and similar types of equipment.
  • Conducts periodic inspections and tests of the equipment as required.
  • Collaborates with facility maintenance as required.
  • Conducts periodic facility inspections and provides written results and recommendations, as necessary, to management.

Risk Management

Establishes and monitors appropriate metrics and publishes periodic results for both management review and employee information.

  • Provides written recommendations to management regarding potential and existing compliance issues, as necessary.
  • Stays abreast of current OSHA Laws and Regulations to ensure the company is compliant to all federal, state, and local regulations and requirements.
  • Works closely with EMS representative to stay current with all EPA Laws and Regulations to ensure the company is compliant to all federal, state, and local regulations and requirements.
  • Supports Human Resources on reporting and managing Workers Compensation claims with third-party insurance carrier.
  • Purchases safety related items, such as first aid and safety training materials.
  • Mainliains with governmental and regulatory agencies, such as fire departments and rescue teams to assure information exchanged and mutual assistance and participates in activities of related professional organizations.

    Education and Experience

    • Associates Degree and/or 7 years of experience working in safety in a manufacturing environment.
    • 7-10 years as a Health & Safety Environmental Manager.
    • Extensive knowledge of OSHA requirements.
    • CSP certification or GPS designee is necessary.
    • Experience in a 24/7 environment is a preferred.
    • Experience with multi-site facilities preferred but not required.

    Skills

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
    • Experience with ISO14001 and ISO18001 are preferred.
    • Occupation safety skills and training.

    Abilities

    • Training, Development and implementation of Health and Safety related programs.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
