Manager, Grants and Capital Assets Accounting

About the role

The Manager, Grants and Capital Assets Accounting oversees the college’s fixed assets, general accounting operations, and financial transactions. They are responsible for developing and overseeing internal controls, budgets, fiscal policies, and financial reporting for fixed assets and liabilities. They supervise staff and manage financial systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP, GASB, and Florida Statutes.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, monitors, and reports on assigned funds, budget variances, and projects to ensure fiscal oversight and compliance with college-wide goals.
• Makes budget amendments and reports as required by state, federal, and Board of Trustees requirements.
• Establishes and maintains internal controls in compliance with GAAP, GASB, and Florida Statutes.
• Supervises staff, including hiring, coaching, mentoring, training, development, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
• Manages and responds to financial and programmatic audit requests and findings.
• Manages and responds to financial and programmatic audit requests and findings.
• Prepares, reviews, and approves journal entries.
• Provides fiscal oversight or recording and tracking of institution’s capital assets and prepares the Capital Assets section of the College’s Annual Financial Report.
• Manages and responds to financial and programmatic audit requests and findings.
• Performs financial system maintenance as well as approving, auditing, and recording revenues and expenditures made against the various funds.
• Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Four years of professional experience in accounting.
• One year of experience supervising staff or leading project teams.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of accounting, finance, and automated records systems, including the ability to apply GAAP, GASB, and Florida Statutes.
• Ability to understand and manage budgets, financial reports, grants, contracts, capital assets, and short- and long-term liabilities.
• Strong analytical, process orientation, and critical thinking skills and attention to detail, including the ability to deal with ambiguity, and resolve complex problems.
• Ability to effectively plan work activities, schedules, priorities, utilization of resources, and manage projects.
• Ability to lead and motivate others to achieve objectives.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated ability to produce financial reports and explain data variances.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.

Skills
