About the role

Humana is seeking a Manager, Full Stack Engineering for our Wisconsin Medicaid Market. This role combines leadership in technology with passion for improving healthcare outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of software engineers through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and career development.
  • Design, build, enhance, and modernize applications, APIs, integrations, and services across multiple technology platforms.
  • Remain highly engaged in hands-on software engineering activities, including coding, architecture, debugging, testing, and code reviews.
  • Establish engineering best practices and maintain high standards for software quality, security, and performance.
  • Drive modernization initiatives, cloud adoption, technical debt reduction, and platform optimization efforts.
  • Partner with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and peer engineering leaders to define technical solutions and delivery priorities.
  • Implement and promote DevSecOps, CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and operational excellence practices.
  • Champion responsible and effective use of AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, privacy, and healthcare regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience building and supporting enterprise applications and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on expertise with Microsoft technologies, including: .NET / C#, SQL Server, RESTful APIs and integrations, modern software design and architecture practices.
  • Experience developing and deploying solutions in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to modernize legacy applications and improve operational reliability.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience leading cloud transformation or modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and code-generation technologies.
  • Familiarity with healthcare, payer, managed care, Medicaid, or regulated industry environments.
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps and security-first engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, PHI handling requirements, and healthcare compliance standards.
  • Experience supporting complex enterprise integrations and third-party platforms.
  • Azure certifications and/or Microsoft technology certifications.
