About the role
Manages the preparation, consolidation, analysis and review of financials including managing monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and analysis; the annual operating and capital budget process; and development of system level charges to affiliates and UBI customers.
Resource and liaison between Finance and Senior Management, other Sutter Health departments, and outside customers. Supports the Director on projects such as financial and audit issue analysis and write-up; standardization of policies and procedures; and development and implementation of processes necessary to improve the operations of Sutter Health departments.
Responsibilities
- Manages staff within the department, including planning and coordinating workloads, designing and implementing improved processes, and managing departmental expenses in order to achieve departmental, company level, and system level objectives.
- Works autonomously with minimal supervision and have a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Advanced skills with database management, file management, spreadsheet applications, and word processing applications.

Requirements
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma. Bachelor's: Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- 8 years of recent relevant experience.
Qualifications
- Working in a large company with diverse operations in the healthcare and insurance industries is highly desired.
- Managerial accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are used to prepare financial statements.
- Accounting systems (including accounts payable and payroll), internal controls, financial forecasting, and budgeting.
- Good understanding of not-for-profit accounting and tax issues.
- Written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Work with all levels of staff, management, and board members to translate complex financial accounting issues to non-financial customers.
- Handle shifting priorities and direct multiple projects while consistently meeting established deadlines.
- Deal appropriately with confidential information.
Skills and Knowledge
- Advanced skills with database management, file management, spreadsheet applications, and word processing applications.
- Leadership skills to make an appropriate contribution and give direction to issues, work groups, and task forces.
- Process a large amount of information in a short period of time and have the confidence to make informed decisions.
