Following our 2025 acquisition of Discover, we have a transformative journey ahead to integrate the Discover Card business and catalyze innovation and growth. We are looking for a candidate to join the Finance team supporting Discover Card Customer Management activities and other horizontal FP&A processes for the total Discover Card portfolio. The ideal candidate will have superior analytical skills, the ability to build collaborative partnerships across a broad set of stakeholders, and exceptional problem-solving abilities in undefined and complex situations.

About the role

As a Manager, Financial Analysis, you will partner with business customers to drive strategic business direction that leads to sustainable performance. You will work for a company that invests in compelling and visual storytelling, trend analysis, and diagnostics. We seek candidates who will challenge our current processes to be more proactive, effective, and efficient.

Managers perform financial data analysis, prepare Profit & Loss or other statements, and build reports for higher-level associates. They provide project statuses to management and business clients and perform reporting and analysis to support presentations and ad-hoc requests.

A successful candidate will:

  • Generate ongoing analytical insights into business performance, the P&L, and the consumer
  • Develop and deliver insightful and influential senior management presentations
  • Partner with business leadership to assess the financial implications of growth efforts
  • Balance analytics and judgment, think beyond department objectives, and influence corporate decision-making
  • Challenge the status quo and create well-managed, sustainable processes
  • Independently manage and prioritize workload

Responsibilities

  • Financial reporting and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting, and Profit & Loss (P&L) management
  • Presentations to business stakeholders
  • Assist in developing presentations to communicate analysis results to senior audiences and clearly articulate outcomes to leadership teams
  • Ad-hoc requests and special projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative major (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering)
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • Certified Treasury Professional, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Financial Manager (CFM)
  • 6+ years of experience in financial analysis and financial modeling
  • 4+ years of experience in financial services, banking, or technology industries
  • 4+ years of experience partnering with senior leaders and internal stakeholders
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills or Google Suite
  • Strong SQL and Python skills

Pay

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location:

  • McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400
  • Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed-upon number of hours. The actual annualized salary offered will be reflected in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.

Schedule

This role is hybrid, with associates typically spending 3 days per week in-person at one of our offices listed on this job posting.
