Assistant Manager, Finance & Commercial Risk | Tempe, AZ (Onsite)Vaco has partnered with a large, established organization in the construction industry to hire an Assistant Manager, Finance & Commercial Risk in Tempe, Arizona. This role blends operational finance with commercial risk, contract review, and business partnership, offering an opportunity to move beyond traditional accounting and become more involved in strategic and project-based decision-making. Compensation and Benefits:Base salary of $140,000-$170,000, depending on experience.Employee ownership program.Comprehensive benefits package. Support continued development of the finance and commercial risk function while contributing to process improvement initiatives. Responsibilities include:Support financial reporting, forecasting, and business planning activities that contribute to strategic decision-making.Monitor cash flow and working capital while supporting the accuracy and integrity of financial information.Identify and evaluate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.Review contracts, identify potential risk exposure, and support drafting and negotiation activities. Participate in commercial negotiations with customers, subcontractors, and other business partners.Support bid reviews, financial due diligence, and stakeholder prequalification activities. Assist with insurance, bonding, claims management, and contractual compliance initiatives. Support financial and operational controls, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field. (Required) 5+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, commercial risk, or related areas. (Required) Construction industry experience. (Required) Ability to read and evaluate contracts and identify areas of commercial risk exposure. (Required)Experience supporting teams or taking on informal leadership responsibilities. (Required) Exposure to legal, contractual, commercial risk, or claims-related matters. (Preferred) CPA or equivalent professional designation.
