Manager, Finance
Core Job Functions
Oversees the budget preparation process and monitors department performance against budget.
Prepares and monitors staffing benchmarks.
Translates long-range strategy into executable business cases and financial planning.
Aids department with performing economic evaluations of new programs and equipment.
Performs trend analyses and volume projections.
Evaluates spending trends and develops strategies that will ensure compliance with budgets.
Drives the strategic direction and financial long-term investment process.
Forms and maintains effective partnerships across organizational boundaries.
Formulates monthly and annual financial statements.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, Master's degree preferred
- Certification and Licensing: Not Applicable
- Experience: Minimum 5 Years Of Relevant Experience, Experience in healthcare is highly preferred
- Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Knowledge of business and management principles, Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations, Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan, Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others, Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others, Experience working within hospital system, Knowledge with cancer services is highly preferred, Experience working with Epic and Aria, Knowledge and experience working with Power BI, Knowledge of various software budgeting software applications, High degree of proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
Department Addendum
- Review of daily hospital revenue and statistics to identify any potential issues that can negatively impact hospital profitability and work with hospital department leader for resolution.
- Help to manage the annual budget process for the hospital in conjunction with the University’s Health System.
- Reviews and approves capital requisitions, ensuring that all capital requests align with overall budget.
- Lead the month-end financial close process, ensuring the G/L accounts properly reflect operations, and identify any budget variances.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis on variance cancer service lines in order to determine key factors driving profitability.
- Develop Monthly Operating Reports for the hospital departments to be reviewed with department leaders.
- Oversee, train and develop junior team members.
