Manager - Facility (Golf Center)
JOB SUMMARY
The Golf Center Facility Manager oversees daily operations at the Orange Beach Golf Center, including the 9-hole course, driving range, pro shop, and maintenance shop. This position ensures exceptional customer service, maintains facility standards, manages retail operations and inventory, coordinates tournaments, and oversees reporting. The Facility Manager works closely with staff to provide a safe, professional, and high-quality golfing experience while ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and, when necessary, disciplines or terminates staff in accordance with City policies.
- Provides ongoing coaching and support to ensure staff deliver excellent customer service and follow operational procedures.
- Leads marketing and outreach efforts, including social media promotion of activities, specials, and tournaments to increase program awareness and revenue.
- Covers with citywide marketing initiatives to promote the Golf Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadership: Supervises and coordinates course grounds crew, pro shop staff, and contracted teaching professionals.
- Pro Shop & Retail Oversight: Manages day-to-day operations of the pro shop, including merchandising, sales, and inventory control. Maintains accurate records of sales, expenses, inventory, and revenue; prepares regular financial reports. Ensures proper cash handling and accountability for point-of-sale systems. Serves as the primary contact for patrons, resolving concerns professionally and promptly.
- Course & Facility Coordination: Monitors daily course conditions and communicates with grounds staff to schedule maintenance, repairs, and improvements. Recommends capital improvement needs and assists with long-term facility planning. Ensures all areas, including the pro shop, storage, grounds buildings, range, restrooms, and golf course, are clean, safe, and ready for use.
- Compliance & Licensing: Maintains an active Alabama ABC Board license and ensures compliance with all alcohol-related regulations. Coordinates insurance requirements, licensing renewals, and related documentation per City and State policy. Recommends updates to facility policies as needed.
- Operations & Event Coordination: Schedules programs and arranges driving range priorities to ensure efficient play and smooth operations. Oversees tournaments and special events from planning through execution. Opens and closes the facility while enforcing security protocols. Maintains visibility throughout the facility to proactively address issues. Builds and maintains a digital presence to engage members and increase participation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate or Technical degree in a related field OR equivalent recent relevant full-time work experience (one year of full-time recent relevant work experience for every one year of college).
- Two years of related experience.
- Two years’ experience in golf operations, facility coordination, or related customer service leadership.
- Current and valid Driver’s License.
- Willingness to work overtime, evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-standard hours.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Some college coursework or a degree in business, recreation, or a related field.
- Familiarity with golf course maintenance standards, turf management, and equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Frequent physical activity including standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, and reaching. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy items as needed.
- Work involves moderate risks and requires adherence to safety precautions around moving parts, machinery, and equipment. Employees may be required to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
COMPENSATION
$51,355.00 - $73,445.00 Annually
