About the role

The Environmental Services Manager oversees housekeeping, linen services, and the cleanliness of the grounds. This position schedules, trains, assigns, supervises, and evaluates housekeeping and laundry personnel at CMH. The manager coordinates day-to-day departmental activities to maintain the hospital and CMH clinics in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition, ensuring compliance with Health Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) requirements and patient satisfaction standards. The EVS Manager ensures quality services across all shifts in the Hospital and CMH Clinics and acts as a working manager, performing housekeeping and laundry duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, train, assign, supervise, and evaluate housekeeping and laundry personnel.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of the Environmental Services and Laundry departments.
  • Maintain the hospital and CMH clinics in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition to meet regulatory and patient satisfaction standards.
  • Ensure quality services are provided during all shifts in the Hospital and CMH Clinics.
  • Perform housekeeping and laundry services as a working manager when needed.
  • Assess and develop creative solutions to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with CMH policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of housekeeping and laundry service processes, staffing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to train staff effectively and interpret and apply CMH policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
  • Three years of progressively responsible housekeeping and custodial experience, preferably in an acute care hospital.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) or similar certification preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Heavy physical effort, including lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, reaching, pushing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Exposure to housekeeping/cleaning agents and chemicals.
  • Work in precarious or slippery locations.
  • Potential exposure to infectious environments.
