Manager, Environmental Health & Safety

About the role

This position reports directly to the Director, Environmental Health and Safety or their designee (e.g., a senior H&S Manager for day-to-day activities). The position may also have “dotted‑line” reporting to an Executive VP, President, General Manager (or equal) within the assigned area of responsibility. This position manages the implementation of core Management Systems and H&S issues and activities for assigned operations. Moreover, the Manager of H&S: 1) trains, monitors and coaches workforce to improve skill levels for managing Management Systems and H&S programs and initiatives and, 2) participates in the development, implementation, and on‑going assessment of policies, procedures, written work practices, and other program components related to the VWNA Management System and H&S program – thus enabling continuous improvement towards maintaining high standards of quality, reliability, safety and compliance across the company.

This position consists of a combination of office and field work, with a high percentage of travel. Work environments may include conditions such as temperature extremes, inclement weather, fumes, odors, dust, toxic and caustic chemicals, noise, rotating equipment,
