About the role

The Data Manager leads the product-creation function within the department, overseeing functional teams and supervising Data Leads who map, process, pre-clean, maintain static tables, and audit new and existing product data across digital and physical formats in pre-production. This role ensures data is accurately and completely mapped, created, and prepared for production in accordance with company and vendor standards. Responsibilities include enforcing data policies, establishing data-sharing rules, troubleshooting data-related issues, and partnering closely with the Data Ops Manager—who leads product maintenance (content transfers, linking, dynamic table maintenance, and field-level quality control—on shared data-auditing responsibilities. The Data Manager also assists with company and department-driven projects.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage and develop a team of format-based (SME) Leads who, in turn, manage their own format-specific coordinators and specialists.
  • Understand and coordinate team members’ work assignments by setting task priorities to meet production standards and deadlines.
  • Identify and lead opportunities to optimize team workflows and processes, from day-to-day productivity and quality improvements to larger-scale innovation using modern data management tools.
  • Oversee data creation and verification workflows from sources including MS Excel, APIs, and third-party providers, ensuring accuracy and completeness per company policies.
  • Lead innovation efforts to improve team workflow efficiency with modern data management solutions.
  • Identify and reconcile trending systemic data errors or workflow failures, or escalate them to the Director of Digital Operations.
  • Address internal and departmental questions related to production issues that impact output standards.
  • Monitor and report team productivity.
  • Lead and coordinate data management projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet milestones and deadlines.
  • Conduct regular data audits to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, or errors in the product database.
  • Ensure data quality through data cleaning procedures.
  • Provide input to the Director of Digital Operations on team resource planning and participate in recruitment and hiring.
  • Review and approve data employee timecards and time-off requests per company policies.
  • Oversee team members, address team concerns, and complete ADP requirements including performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Strong people management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up skills.
  • Ability to produce and publish departmental process guidelines and rules.
  • Ability to create and maintain reports as requested.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365 with emphasis on MS Excel.
  • Highly self-motivated, well-organized, and able to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Analytically minded; able to manipulate large data sets to gather insights and structure new projects.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, CoPilot) to improve workflows, documentation, and data analysis.
  • Ability to manage large amounts of digital media assets.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical issues.
  • Collaborative nature and willingness to work with team members across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in data development or analysis.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience with Jira, programming languages like SQL, and visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of master data management (MDM), data housing, and integration concepts.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly sit for extended periods.
  • Perform repetitive motion-type tasks.
  • Physically able to attend meetings, presentations, and training sessions.
  • Ability to work on-site in a team environment.
