About the role

Amplitude is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its San Francisco-based controllership team. The role involves balancing hands-on execution with driving smarter, faster processes, particularly in modernizing the close cycle and embedding AI into core accounting workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Owning and running the full close cycle across the general ledger, including journal entries, consolidations, intercompany, reconciliations, and flux analysis
  • Continuously improving the speed, accuracy, and predictability of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
  • Strengthening and scaling accounting policies, processes, and internal controls to support a public company environment, ensuring compliance while building a foundation for growth
  • Partnering cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Legal, and AP to drive a seamless close process, proactively resolving issues, and ensuring financial data aligns with broader business objectives
  • Leading audit readiness and execution end-to-end, managing external auditors, owning the PBC process, and ensuring deliverables are organized, timely, and audit-ready
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities to automate and accelerate accounting workflows—including embedding AI into routine processes—to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and increase overall data reliability

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and industry experience (ideally in SaaS or tech)
  • A strong foundation in US GAAP and practical application in a fast-paced environment
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA is a plus)
  • Experience owning close processes and working with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
  • Comfortable working in a SOX-compliant environment and understanding the importance of strong internal controls

Pay

$145,000 - $217,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)
