About the role

The successful candidate will manage all stages of construction, including ensuring compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards, coordinating with vendors and contractors, and overseeing the construction process to meet deadlines and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with general contractors, subcontractors, and local city inspectors to ensure all inspections are completed and passed.
  • Verifies compliance with health, safety, and all other regulations during the construction phase.
  • Conducts ongoing quality inspections and maintains construction schedule and tracking systems.
  • Manages construction processes such as RFI’s, shop drawings, directives, submittals, punch lists, short form agreements, and other required documents.
  • Ensures the construction process starts and ends on time, meeting daily and weekly deadlines.
  • Performs constant on-site monitoring and quality control functions.
  • Becomes familiar with the Creative concept package and monitors the development of construction documents.
  • Aids in the pre-qualification and evaluation of potential construction vendors.
  • Works with general contractors, vendors for site/construction sequence and logistics, and attends design progress review meetings.
  • Reviews design documents for completeness, corrections, and coordination, and provides recommendations for Value Engineering alternatives.
  • Prepares Request for Proposals (RFP) documentation and assists in the final evaluation and recommendation process of bids and proposals.
  • Manages punch lists and close-out processes, reviews final submittals for accuracy and completeness, and assists in the preparation of an overall project post-mortem.
  • Enforces environmental, health, and safety responsibilities by following established UDX policies, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Practical construction knowledge with proven experience as a builder superintendent or construction manager.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise staff, set goals, prioritize tasks, coordinate work, and manage time.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and enthusiasm for working within constantly changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects.
  • Proficient on Microsoft Office and the use of tablets and smartphones.
  • Ability to understand and enforce safety requirements and cautions.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence and lead a team.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts with vendors and contractors.

Education

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in Engineering and/or Construction Management, or a related field is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years’ relevant construction/project management experience.
  • Previous experience with turnkey projects, specifically within the theme park/entertainment industry is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
