MANAGER, COMMUNICATIONS

About the role
We are growing our Sport and Entertainment PR & Communications service within Strategy and Consultancy at THE·TEAM. The core areas we operate in include Strategic Communications and PR, Media Relations, and Reputation Management. Our practitioners work on standalone communications accounts and integrate into wider agency teams delivering multiple services. This role supports and reports to the Senior Director of Communications, based in Brooklyn. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days on-site.
This is a new, fresh, and nimble service in the market, offering a great opportunity for an ambitious individual to have a major impact on the agency and achieve high visibility with senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Management of key relationships with colleagues, clients, rights holders, media, external agencies, and third-party suppliers
- Support campaign planning based on client insights, including target audience, objectives, media outlet suitability, budget parameters, and KPI setting
- Help develop messaging frameworks and draft key messaging documents
- Implement all aspects of communications campaign rollout, including media outreach, press release creation, and content dissemination
- Conduct campaign reviews, interpret measurement results, and provide recommendations to clients
- Handle event and press day logistics, including talent management
- Support the internal team in driving status meetings, planning, and review sessions
- Manage budgets
- Develop clear and concise internal and external presentations and reporting
- Proactively grow our media contacts list of journalists, broadcasters, and producers
- Support the Senior Director of Communications and business development team with new business opportunities, including research and deck creation
- Demonstrate professionalism in all interpersonal, written, and verbal communications
- Track time and financial expenses on a day-to-day basis
- Nurture and develop junior team members (future responsibility)
Requirements
- 2+ years’ experience in an agency setting
- Media relations experience, with a strong understanding of what makes a compelling story
- Ability to multi-task across several activities and clients with tight deadlines
- Experience ensuring actions are completed timely and to a high standard
- Strong presentation skills (both writing and delivery), including proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Preferred Experience
- Agency experience working with large global consumer brands or rights holders
- Experience in sport or entertainment (preferred but not essential)

Pay
Base salary range: $66,300 - $75,000 plus bonus potential if applicable. Actual base salary depends on factors including market dynamics, location, experience, specialized skills, level of responsibility, and budgetary considerations.
