About the role
The Manager of Communications will translate AJCP's communications strategy into action and own its day-to-day execution. Working from the direction set by the Communications Lead, this individual will build the campaign roadmaps, editorial calendars, and narrative frameworks that bring the plan to life, propose story angles and campaign strategies for approval, and serve as the primary point of contact for agency partners and media.
Responsibilities
- Translate the overarching communications strategy set by the Communications Lead into actionable campaign roadmaps, editorial calendars, and quarterly plans across corporate, property, and brand-level comms
- Propose story angles, campaign strategies, and positioning recommendations for the Communications Lead’s review and approval
- Build and maintain the narrative frameworks and messaging platforms that keep coverage consistent across verticals and markets
- Maintain media landscape and competitive activity, surfacing opportunities and risks that inform strategy
- Manage PR timelines for hotel openings, food and beverage concepts, and other asset activations
- Lead logistics for media events and tenant/hotel openings
- Collaborate cross-functionally with brand, marketing, design, and development teams
- Lead day-to-day media relations across lifestyle, travel, food and beverage, real estate, and business verticals
- Develop and pitch story angles that advance AJCP’s lifestyle and corporate narratives, sourcing ideas through cross-collaboration with brand, leasing, deal leads, and property teams
- Leverage and expand strong national media relationships to secure meaningful coverage in top-tier publications
- Draft and refine press releases, pitches, media alerts, bios, and briefing documents for review by the Communications Lead
- Drive a consistent cadence of earned media aligned with brand and corporate goals
- Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for external PR firms and consultants, freeing senior leadership to focus on strategy and framing
- Hold agency partners accountable to scope, timelines, and deliverables, chasing outstanding items and managing monthly check-ins
- Evaluate agency performance and value, and surface recommendations to the Communications Lead on where support can be sharpened or reallocated
- Coordinate with tenants, partners, and brands to co-pitch and execute joint PR strategies
- Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly PR reports, tracking earned media across local, national, and industry outlets
- Partner with agencies to produce campaign recaps and distribute results to key internal stakeholders
- Support the execution of corporate and executive communications under the direction of the Communications Lead
- Prepare executive briefing materials and talking points
- Coordinate with investor relations and marketing on joint communications needs
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience in public relations and communications, preferably in travel, lifestyle, hospitality, or real estate
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related discipline
- Proven ability to secure meaningful media coverage in top-tier national publications
- Experience working with or supporting executive leadership
- Occasional travel necessary
