Manager, Coding - Remote - Nationwide
About the role
Vituity is seeking a Manager, Coding to join our team. This role manages and monitors coding production in multiple platforms, ensuring productivity and accuracy standards are met. The Manager also selects and optimizes staffing, tracks goal attainment, and provides guidance and training.
Responsibilities
- Manages and monitors a group of 3 to 4 Associate Managers, Coding.
- Ensures coding productivity and accuracy standards are met by all coders and identifies areas of improvement.
- Promotes growth of the department and initiates coaching and development with employees not meeting expectations.
- Creates knowledgeable, informed, and motivated staff through counseling and training.
- Streamlines coding practices by identifying best practices to improve processes.
- Develops staff through sharing of information, direct communication, and leadership that cultivates a proactive, positive, and collaborative environment.
- Aids the Coding Department with documentation requirements and correct coding practices.
- Reviews provider documentation and performs research/reviews coding guidelines.
- Confers with Compliance Manager as needed.
- Performs analysis of various reports (missed ancillaries, decreased levels, productivity, overtime, etc.) and interfaces with Medical Directors, Managers, Client Services, and takes appropriate actions and follows up as necessary.
- Interacts with Medical and Regional Directors to provide updates on relevant sites issues; participates in conference calls and on-site visits to help promote communication and clarify any coding issues that may arise.
- Notifies and provides feedback to Clinicians of insufficient or ambiguous documentation and requests clarification.
- Coordinates timely paperwork/charts and answers questions for Managers, Client Services, Billing Supervisors, Team Members, and Clinician Education Analysts regarding coding.
- Maintains feedback and counsels team members regarding performance, timekeeping, and personnel issues.
- May be asked to travel for business reasons, not exceeding 10% of the time.
- Remains current on coding practices and compliance requirements through reading periodicals and attending coding related conferences.
Requirements
- Associate degree (A.A) or a combination of education and work experience that demonstrates the attainment of the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
- Management or supervisory experience with similar responsibilities required.
- 4 years medical coding experience required.
- Experience in healthcare/coding/billing preferred.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology including basic knowledge of pathology and etiology of disease, body areas and organ systems.
- Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD 10).

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $79,600 - $99,500, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible to participate in our annual corporate Success Sharing bonus program, which is based on the company’s annual performance. If you are hired at Vituity, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience.
