Job Summary

Provides management and coordination of daily clinical nutrition operations including inpatient and outpatient nutrition services. This includes developing, planning, implementing and maintaining optimal nutritional care.

Education & Experience

  • Registered Dietitian as certified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Three years of experience

Certifications, Licenses or Registrations Required

  • Valid Dietitian license, registration as certified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of food and nutrition
  • Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools
  • Knowledge of performance management process and associated local, state, federal, and other regulations
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and JCAHO regulations, standards, protocols, and procedures
  • Customer service skills
  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management
  • Ability to ensure compliance with workplace safety, environmental, and infection control standards
  • Ability to train, motivate, and supervise employees

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates inpatient and outpatient clinical nutrition services for the institution
  • Supervises the clinical dietitian staff including scheduling, assignments, hiring, conducting performance evaluations, managing performance and productivity
  • Serves as department liaison and member of appropriate committee, such as pharmacy, quality improvement, infection control, and diabetes education
  • Serves as preceptor for dietetic interns
  • Ensures that all diets and eternal formulations are prepared in accordance with approved standards and cost considerations
  • Maintains the billing process according to policies and procedures
  • Evaluates clinical nutrition services on an ongoing basis to ensure highest level of service and quality
  • Stays abreast of new and emerging trends in the practice of dietetics
  • Provides support, guidance, training and mentoring to dietetic staff

  • Occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment
  • Frequent exposure to bio-hazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours

  • Occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature
