About the role

USAA seeks a Manager, Claims Operations to lead and coach employees in auto, property, and other claims operations. The role requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 6 years of claims handling experience, including 2 years of claims handling experience. The position offers a flexible work environment requiring 4 days of in-office work per week.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and reviews quality of claim files and provides feedback to employees.
  • Coaches employees to understand how their work supports overall claims and enterprise strategies.
  • Identifies and implements opportunities to improve operational effectiveness, member experiences, and processes.
  • Manages workload volumes, staffing, and training needs.
  • Monitors work to ensure consistent execution of processes and adherence to guidelines and frameworks.
  • Handles escalations and makes appropriate decisions based on policy.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert, hires, develops, and coaches claims employees.
  • Supports projects by serving as a subject matter expert.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 6 years of progressive customer service, operational, military or leadership experience, including 2 years of claims handling experience.
  • 2 years of direct team lead, supervisory, or management experience.
  • Experience using and interpreting data to make decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, customer service, and/or claims handling skills.
  • Acquisition and maintenance of applicable insurance adjuster license within 6 months of starting the role.

Qualifications

  • Current experience as a Claims Manager/Supervisor.
  • 2+ years of experience handling total loss claims.
  • 2+ years handling complex non-Injury auto coverage and liability decisioning.
  • 2+ years physical damage and/or auto injury claims experience.
  • Strong experience coaching and developing claims adjusters to meet organizational and development/career path goals.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $103,450 - $197,730. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Schedule

This position can be based in Colorado Springs, CO. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
