Manager, Capital Projects
This position is onsite and will preferably be domiciled in AR, LA, or TX, but other locations within Entergy's service territory may be considered.

Manager, Capital Projects to lead a dynamic team in the successful execution of assigned capital program. Strategically dedicated to deliver superior results for the transmission and distribution resiliency program. Utilize diversity of talent and knowledge to maneuver the portfolio to exceed internal and regulatory requirements while maintaining a competitive edge with operational efficiency. The candidate will lead a team of direct, matrixed, and contract resources in the safe execution of the program with high quality. Influential leader with the knowledge and skills to manage execution of a multibillion-dollar program with schedule and cost accuracy to achieve annual spend/closing targets. Well-versed in managing relations while upholding accountability for performance. Drive cost efficiency and track cost/schedule performance efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage partnerships with internal/external resources to manage and deliver program results.
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance.
- Oversee the capital portfolio, ensuring alignment with company goals and strategic objectives.
- Lead and mentor a team of project managers responsible for the execution of capital projects within the portfolio.
- Manage program scope, budget, schedule, and risk to deliver superior results.
- Track program costs across contractors to drive cost competitiveness and to ensure the best cost for customers is obtained.
- Establish, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of program execution and portfolio performance.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, finance, and operations teams to prioritize capital projects based on business needs and available resources.
- Ensure internal/external compliance with all applicable regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols throughout project execution.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in project management processes.
- Provide guidance and support to direct reports on technical, operational, and strategic aspects of the program.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing regular updates on project progress, risks, and opportunities.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure the delivery of services and materials within program expectations.
- Develop and implement project management frameworks, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Monitor contractor performance in the area of project safety, schedule, cost, quality of work, and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Provide coaching to ensure safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules.
- Establish/track leading indicators and proactive requirements to ensure safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation for contractors, Entergy project team members, and the end user.
- Mentor and build organization technical knowledge to achieve program results.
- Lead team to develop and execute projects in accordance with the applicable corporate standards, guidelines, policies, and processes.
- Ensure that team members fulfill their responsibilities as required of their roles.
- Provide leadership, oversight, and coordination to various internal and external organizations providing services for distribution and transmission projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to distribution and transmission engineering, Right of Way, and construction suppliers.
- Lead team in developing construction plans, which includes work sequence, outages, and resource requirements.
- Work with supply chain for the procurement of major materials, participate on buyers team and vendor selection.
- Interface with all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies regarding specific project needs where appropriate.
- Fulfill role as the 'Contract Manager' or the 'Owner's Representative' as defined in the project contract.
- Administrate the contract and issue formal correspondence to contractors in accordance with corporate standards and guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business (or related field) OR 4 years equivalent/related work experience (in addition to the Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of a degree.
- 10 years of related experience, with at least 5 years of Distribution, Substation, or Transmission experience.
- Field experience preferred.
Skills
- Expert in project and construction management fundamentals.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to transmission lines and substations, including principles, techniques, and procedures for design, construction, commissioning, and operations of electrical transmission facilities.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of power transmission facilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- PMP Certification (desired).
Location
Primary locations: The Woodlands, TX; Little Rock, AR; Baton Rouge, LA; New Orleans, LA; Beaumont, TX.
Travel required: 25% to 50%.
