Manager, Behavioral Health

About the Role

Implements and provides guidance to the team on best practices for conducting assessments and determining diagnoses. Mentors team members on communicating results, discussing treatment plans, and providing resources. Leads cross-team efforts in member/patient advocacy, care issue anticipation, feedback implementation, and complaint resolution. Participates in developing care experience standards and ensures high-quality care. Guides referrals and implements standards for sharing information with providers. Oversees quality therapy programs, manages new program implementation, and ensures optimal program utilization. Provides guidance on regulatory policies, compliance, and documentation standards.

In addition to managerial and administrative responsibilities, this role may also include providing direct psychotherapeutic services to individual patients and/or patient groups as assigned.

• Manages compliant services by guiding teams on organizational, state, and federal guidelines; consults with Compliance as needed.
• Implements processes for documentation and reporting according to regulations.
• Manages high-quality counseling services by mentoring teams on psychological/behavioral interventions.
• Guides communication with patients, members, or families regarding results, treatment plans, and resources.
• Implements procedures for assessing and treating urgent, high-risk clinical situations (e.g., crisis, suicidal).
• Manages patient evaluations and diagnoses by guiding best practices for assessments and mental health evaluations.
• Recommends evidence-based treatment plans for identified diagnoses (e.g., individual and group therapy).
• Drives program development by providing guidance and feedback to ensure quality therapy programs.
• Manages implementation of new programs (e.g., in-/out-patient psychotherapy, chemical dependency).
• Implements adjustments to improve service impact; contributes to outcome management systems.
• Coaches teams on recommending and implementing improvements to clinical treatment programs.
• Analyzes therapy program productivity and ensures optimal utilization.

Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in treatment planning.
• Minimum one (1) year of facilitation and development experience of clinical groups and programs.
• Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field and minimum three (3) years of experience in behavioral health or other relevant healthcare field.
• Active license in one of the following at hire:
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California),
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst,
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California),
  • Psychologist License (California), or
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California).
• National Provider Identifier required at hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience working directly or indirectly with individuals with behavioral health conditions.
• One (1) year of experience managing operational or project budgets.

Pay

The posted pay range is $171,000 - $198,000 per year. Actual base pay is determined at offer based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate’s years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.

Schedule

• Full-time, standard worker location (onsite).
• Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
• Shift: Day (working hours start: 08:30 AM, end: 07:00 PM).
• Workdays: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
• Travel: Yes, 25% of the time.
