What You'll Do

  • Own the end-to-end battery cell manufacturing process development & design for manufacturability — from upstream electrode mixing to downstream finished-cell testing and shipment — ensuring supplier readiness, process rigor, and mass-production quality at scale
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Supplier Industrialization Engineers (SIEs) responsible for manufacturing readiness, process qualification, and production ramp execution at supplier sites
  • Collaborate with supplier and Tesla cell design teams to ensure new cell architectures are viable for mass production
  • Partner with suppliers on process development & controls, identifying and eliminating risks before they reach volume production
  • Guide suppliers on process DOE, establishing optimal process parameters to meet design & quality standards
  • Drive team for structured failure analysis and corrective action processes for inline escapes, OQC findings, cell performance deviations, and IQC failures at Tesla
  • Drive cell process change risk evaluation & validation with respect to cell reliability and performance before implementation to production

What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Material Science Engineering discipline and 5+ years of experience in cell manufacturing (Pouch/Prismatic/Can type cells), or equivalent experience
  • Deep hands-on experience in developing cutting edge battery cell manufacturing process – Mixing, Coating, Calendaring, Slitting, Tab Forming, Winding/Stacking, Assembly & Formation
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a people management role & proven track record to build and lead a strong team
  • Working knowledge of cell design & performance requirements and relationship to cell manufacturing process
  • Strong command of quality systems, statistical process control, and root cause analysis (8D, PFMEA fishbone)
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence supplier organizations at a senior level
  • Demonstrate take-charge attitude, be able to work independently & set the team’s priorities based on competing and urgent needs
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment where decisions directly impact vehicle safety and performance
  • Ability to travel at short notice, domestic & international up to 25%
