Manager, Automation Engineering
About the Role
We’re looking for a highly organized, execution-driven Manager, Automation Engineering to lead the implementation and launch of a large-scale automated warehouse facility for Walmart. This is an on-site engineering role focused on ownership, execution, and technical project management within a highly automated warehouse and industrial environment.
What you'll do...
Own site implementation and launch execution
Serve as the on-site engineering lead responsible for coordinating and driving the successful implementation and launch of an automated warehouse facility.
Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality
Maintain alignment across timelines, budgets, milestones, and execution quality to support successful site delivery and operational readiness.
Partner across multiple teams
Work closely with Operations, construction partners, Global Tech, automation vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to coordinate execution activities and resolve issues quickly.
Review and understand technical documentation
Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, specifications, and technical documentation to support implementation, issue resolution, and operational readiness activities.
Learn and support automation systems
Develop a strong understanding of automation systems, warehouse operations, building systems, and site workflows to support successful startup and launch execution.
Drive proactive execution
Operate with a strong bias for action by identifying risks, solving problems quickly, escalating issues when needed, and driving accountability across stakeholders.
Ensure execution excellence
Maintain a high standard of quality and attention to detail across implementation activities, startup readiness, punch-list tracking, and operational transition efforts.
Communicate clearly and effectively
Provide consistent project updates, coordinate across teams, and maintain alignment with stakeholders throughout all phases of implementation and launch.
What You’ll Bring
Experience in engineering, technical project management, automation engineering, industrial engineering, operations engineering, or related operational environments
Strong project planning, coordination, and execution skills
Demonstrated ability to own and deliver complex projects while maintaining timelines, budgets, and quality expectations
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive execution in fast-paced industrial environments
Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills across operations teams, construction partners, vendors, contractors, Global Tech, and internal stakeholders
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical documentation
Learning agility and the ability to quickly understand automation systems, warehouse operations, and operational workflows
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Self-starter mentality with a strong bias for action and ownership
Curiosity and excitement for automation, innovation, and delivering operational capabilities at scale for Walmart
Positive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively in highly collaborative environments
Comfortable working on-site in active industrial and warehouse environments during facility startup and launch activities
Willingness to work on-site at the assigned facility with approximately 10% travel
Nice to Haves
- PMP certification preferred
- Experience supporting automated warehouse, industrial, manufacturing, or logistics facilities
- Exposure to automation systems, material handling equipment, or warehouse operations
- Experience supporting large-scale facility launches or startup operations
- Familiarity with project management tools, CAD drawings, and engineering coordination processes
- Experience working in highly collaborative, execution-focused environments
Minimum Qualifications
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and 2 years’ experience in engineering, supply chain, or related area.
Option 2: 4 years’ experience in engineering, supply chain, or related area.

Masters: Computer Engineering
