About the role

Join The Vault — a tight‑knit, community‑focused cannabis company where knowledgeable staff create welcoming, educational customer experiences every day. As Manager of the retail location, you will lead a small team to deliver exceptional service, protect compliance, and grow store performance. You will own day‑to‑day operations including staffing and coaching, inventory and cash accountability, compliance with state and local regulations, merchandising, customer engagement, and community outreach.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach a small retail team to deliver high‑quality customer service.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and labor costs while contributing to store‑level P&L goals.
• Oversee inventory control, perform cycle counts, and maintain accurate record‑keeping.
• Handle cash, operate POS systems, and perform daily cash reconciliation procedures.
• Ensure compliance with state and local cannabis regulations and maintain required licensing/credentials.
• Develop and execute merchandising strategies, product launches, and local marketing initiatives.
• Engage with customers through product education and consultative sales to build loyalty.
• Conduct community outreach and represent the dispensary as a trusted local resource.
• De‑escalate customer or employee situations professionally.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive workplace, including first aid/CPR readiness if applicable.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• 3+ years of retail management experience with demonstrated leadership, scheduling, and coaching capabilities.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with ability to build loyalty through product education and consultative sales.
• Experience with cash handling, POS systems, and daily cash reconciliation procedures.
• Proven ability to manage inventory, perform cycle counts, and maintain accurate record‑keeping.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for cannabis retail or ability to quickly learn and adhere to state/local rules.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to de‑escalate situations professionally.
• Experience creating schedules, managing labor costs, and contributing to store‑level P&L goals.
• Ability to pass required background checks and maintain any necessary licensing or site‑specific credentials.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Desired Skills

• Prior experience in cannabis retail or other heavily regulated environments (e.g., alcohol, pharmaceuticals).
• Familiarity with seed‑to‑sale systems such as METRC and common dispensary POS platforms.
• Experience with merchandising, product launches, and local marketing or community outreach initiatives.
• Basic financial literacy for forecasting, inventory valuation, and simple P&L review.
• Training or coaching certification, or demonstrable success in staff development and performance management.
• Bilingual abilities to better serve a diverse neighborhood.
• First aid/CPR certification and a commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive workplace.

Pay

$80 – $85 USD per year

Schedule

Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
