About the Role

Performs valuations of client derivatives portfolios and valuation control functions on fund portfolios. These valuations are used for collateral margin calculations, providing daily PNL, and in the fund’s NAV process. SS&C valuations are generated through internal analytics based on standard market models used across the industry, with underlying data sourced from leading market vendors. The valuation control function involves independent verification of final source prices determined in accordance with fund valuation policies and SS&C’s internal pricing procedures.

As a Manager or Associate Director, you will lead staff or professionals working on issues requiring in-depth knowledge or specialized skills. You will exercise wide latitude to make decisions to achieve defined goals, establish operational objectives, and provide strong tactical leadership. Coordination with senior management or executives on critical cross-departmental or functional issues is expected, along with removing barriers to operational success. You will also participate in the development and implementation of company policies and be accountable for the results of one or more departments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily valuation of client derivatives portfolios and valuation control activities for fund portfolios.
  • Oversee valuations used for collateral and margin calculations, daily P&L, and fund NAV processes.
  • Review and validate pricing and market data in accordance with fund valuation policies and SS&C pricing procedures.
  • Perform independent price verification and investigate pricing discrepancies and valuation exceptions.
  • Ensure valuation processes are accurate, timely, well-controlled, and properly documented.
  • Lead and develop a team of valuation professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management.
  • Partner with Operations, Fund Accounting, Risk, Technology, and other teams to resolve issues and meet business deadlines.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and recommend updates to procedures and controls.
  • Support client inquiries, audits, and other valuation-related requests.
  • Manage department activities and ensure delivery of quality results within established policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in derivatives valuation, pricing, valuation control, fund accounting, or a related financial services function.
  • Knowledge of market data, pricing models, and independent price verification processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience leading or managing a small team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet daily deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Excel and financial systems; experience with valuation or market data platforms is preferred.

Pay

Actual base salary will vary based on relevant skills, prior experience, education, demonstrated performance, and geographic location. In addition, employees in this role may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and/or equity awards, such as restricted stock units or stock options, based on individual and business performance.

  • California: The expected base salary for the position is between $90,000 USD to $200,000 USD.
  • Colorado: The expected base salary for the position is between $80,000 USD to $160,000 USD.
  • Massachusetts: The expected base salary for the position is between $95,000 USD to $190,000 USD.
