Responsibilities
- Oversee/manage payroll, reimbursements, and related journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Manage and drive the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Prepare and review monthly financial reports and lead P&L discussions
- Handle cash reconciliations and deposits; maintain accurate AR/AP records in Yardi
- Coincide with local authorities for sales tax filings, utility accounts, and compliance
- Continuously improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Oversee/manage day-to-day financial operations for assigned portfolio of operating properties and development projects
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable processing, including tenant charges, lease setup, property management fee calculation, and vendor payments
- Calculate and invoice development fees, property management fees, and CAM reconciliations
- Manage Yardi data for assigned project, ensuring accuracy of tenant, lease, and financial information in coordination with the in-house Yardi Administrator
- Partner with property manager to provide financial guidance and resolve accounting-related questions (rent, tenant charges, etc.)
- Handle move-in/move-out accounting, including security deposit returns
- Partner with Investments Team to update investment model
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience in real estate, development, or property management
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Hands-on experience with Yardi Voyager, Commercial Café, and Tenant Café
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting
- Able to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present financial results to senior leadership
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with various departments
- High attention to detail, integrity, and transparency
- Ownership mindset — takes full accountability for the function and outcomes
- Demonstrated problem solver who navigates ambiguity and drives issues to resolution
- Embraces change and actively identifies opportunities for process and systems improvement

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensations, or range thereof, for roles that will be performed in Illinois. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of AJMC’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $110,000-$140,000. Other rewards may include annual bonuses.
