Manager, Academic Support Services
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
Oversees daily operations of department services, programs, and projects at multiple service locations on campus.
Acts as lead with developing new services and projects that align to the strategic initiatives identified by the Dean and VPI.
Essential Job Functions
- Hires, trains, and evaluates a team of employees, providing leadership, support, and supervision.
- Makes data-informed recommendations regarding adjustments to programs and services.
- Creates, analyzes, and utilizes a variety of detailed reports.
- Monitors part-time staff budgets and develops annual budget recommendations to support services.
- Maintains and controls area resources such as office supplies and equipment needed within the department; submits requisitions, and/or reviews and approves/denies purchase requests in accordance with the budget.

Physical Abilities
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Schedule And Conditions
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment.
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in academic support and tutoring services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience tutoring high school or college students.
- Experience working in higher education.
- Experience with academic support services, including tutoring and College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certifications.
Salary
Hiring salary range is $51,761 - $59,526. Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
