About the role

The Manager in Training (MIT) role at Acme Barricades is designed to provide hands-on experience and foundational knowledge to future leaders within the organization. This role involves assisting with various aspects of branch operations, from coordinating logistics to managing staff and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Aids in coordinating all branch operations, utilizing all physical resources effectively.
  • Maintains upkeep and condition of all equipment, plants, and fixtures.
  • Liaises with suppliers, merchandisers, and other partners to ensure smooth operations.
  • Recruits, trains, and develops staff members.
  • Monitors competitor activity, pricing, and strategies.
  • Develops advertising and promotional strategies aligned with budgetary parameters.
  • Contributes to company strategy and policy-making.
  • Manages customer service activities and ensures staff competence in these areas.
  • Manages costs and overheads to ensure the profitable performance of the branch.
  • Maintains safety requirements and provides necessary paperwork to corporate headquarters.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer skills in Excel, Word, etc.
  • Minimum of 3 years in assistant management of a service, warehouse, or construction branch.
  • Ability to take initiative, own tasks, and be flexible regarding changing priorities.
  • Understanding of workflow, ability to identify process improvements, summarize issues, and make recommendations to management.
  • Experience assessing and preparing documentation related to operational processes.
  • Strategic thinking, issue identification, and opportunity assessment.
  • Strong communication, time management, and presentation skills.
  • Physical strength to handle repetitive tasks such as driving, lifting, and operating machinery.
  • Visual and auditory acuity to navigate construction sites and follow safety protocols.
  • Written and verbal communication skills to complete daily paperwork and interact with colleagues.
  • Valid driver’s license required, with the ability to pass MVR and controlled substance tests, undergo background and criminal record checks, and comply with local driving rules and regulations.
