Management Liability Underwriting Intern (Hybrid)

About the role

Management Liability Underwriting Intern position on the Financial and Professional Lines Underwriting team in Chicago, IL (230 W. Monroe Street).

Responsibilities

• Work closely with experienced Management Liability Underwriting Managers and individual contributors.
• Develop knowledge of corporate insurance functions and the specialty market.
• Assist professionals with day‑to‑day underwriting assignments and special projects.
• Perform tasks typical of entry‑level underwriters as experience grows.

Qualifications

• Must be working toward a Risk Management, Insurance, or Business‑focused degree.
• Preference for those who have completed insurance or financial analysis coursework.

Skills

• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office/Excel.
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
• Outstanding organization and time‑management skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to travel for business purposes.
• Previous internship experience in insurance is a plus but not required.

Schedule

Full‑time, paid internship; start early June 2027; duration approximately 8‑12 weeks.
