Management Consultant Senior
Job Duties
Develop and provide presentations and education sessions to a diverse range of employees at worksites and locations across the county.
Provide expert communications/health education input in developing and implementing the Health Reform Initiative program goals, objectives, and messages, and developing the overall outreach plan.
Research and offer communications/health education tools and resources to support employees and their family members in becoming more active in their health and health care.
- Develop and deliver specific education materials—online, classroom, and others including:
- Providing general education about the health care quality and cost crisis and the county’s strategies for addressing these issues:
- Teaching employees how to use decision support tools with confidence;
- Continuing to reinforce the philosophy of the new benefits program through on-going communication planning and development of new tools.
Requirements
Develop written communication materials for media such as newsletters, Web, brochures, etc.
Make complex health information accessible and understandable to a diverse population of employees and their family members using a variety of formats.
Develop, implement and assess innovative programs and events for engaging employees and their families in improving their health.
Develop, implement and assess health promotion programs.
Develop and implement health care consumer programs.
Conduct employee surveys to determine success of communication and education outreach.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Minimum of 3 years experience in corporate, public health, or health care communications and a Bachelor’s degree in public health, English, communications, journalism, human resources or related field of study, or an equivalent combination of experience and training that demonstrates equivalency in knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Demonstrated superior effective verbal communication skills, including persuasive public speaking and/or presentation skills.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge, skills and abilities in the development and implementation of communications or educational activities that use or promote and evidence-based approach to physical activity, nutrition, stressing less and effective health care consumer education.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge, skills and abilities in health communications, public health education (adult learning and behavior change), and health promotion theory and principles.
- Demonstrated advanced writing, editing, proofreading and composition skills; demonstrated technical and persuasive writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement communications and educational programs for a diverse workforce, including building networks and coalitions across the organization.
- Demonstrated advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently as well as in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a demanding and changing work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professional behavior, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with stressful situations with tact and efficiency.
- Demonstrated positive customer service skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with a wide variety of people and stakeholders, both internal and external to the County.
Supplemental Information
- A valid Washington State Driver’s License or the equivalent ability to travel throughout the county in a timely manner is required.
- The ability to lift and carry boxes, A-V equipment and other supplies is required.
- A Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree is desirable.
