Mammography Technologist Specialist

About the role

The Breast Health Center at Regions Hospital performs diagnostic work and procedures, including biopsies and seed placements, to aid in the diagnosis of breast cancer or other breast health issues. This role involves working with patients of diverse cultures and physical conditions, requiring independent judgment and initiative under the direction of Radiologists.

Schedule

Part-time, 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week). Hours of operation are Monday–Friday between 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography procedures, including diagnostic imaging, biopsies, and seed placements.
• Exercise independent judgment in delivering high-quality patient care.
• Operate specialized medical imaging equipment and accessory devices.
• Adapt to varied patient needs, ages, cultures, and physical conditions.
• Work effectively in stressful situations while maintaining safety protocols, including radiation safety.
• Learn and perform specialized treatment and diagnostic procedures at a consistently high quality level.

Requirements

• Completion of an AMA-accredited Radiology Technology program or Canadian equivalent.
• Completion of a Mammography Training program.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology.
• Mammography Training Certificate (tracked by department).
• Must obtain Mammography board certification within the first year of employment.
• BLS certification from an AHA-sponsored program (required by the first day of employment).

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional Mammography experience beyond the training program.
• Mammography Board Certified.

Skills

• Knowledge of medical imaging procedures, human anatomy, physics, and chemistry.
• Proficiency in radiation safety and other safety techniques during imaging procedures.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with diverse patients.
• Ability to operate and maintain specialized medical imaging equipment.
• Learning agility to master routines, procedures, and specialized treatments.

Pay

The full salary range for this position is $41.51–$57.82 per hour, based on experience.
