Mammography Technologist
Job Description
Performs quality diagnostic and screening mammographic studies utilizing a knowledge of anatomic positions.
Ensures patient safety and comfort during procedures by explaining the process, positioning patients correctly, and adjusting equipment as needed.
Reviews prior imaging to attain and/or improve tissue visualization as compared to prior studies.
Complies with FDA MQSA Regulations.
Affixes assistance with mammographs, ultrasound, and MR guided breast localizations and biopsies.
May perform screening breast ultrasound procedures as required by local facility.
Requirements
- 0-3 years of relevant experience
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when necessary
- Certification in Mammography (M) through the ARRT within 12 months of hire
- If performing breast ultrasound, must obtain credential through ARDMS: RDMS(BR); ARRT: RT(S)(BS), or RT(R)(M)(BS); within 18 months of hire
- Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) compliance
Qualifications
- Active status as a Registered Technologist - Radiography, RT(R) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
