Mammography Technologist

Responsibilities

  • Counsels patients on the procedure and ensures their understanding of the examination.
  • Ensures high-quality mammograms are conducted and evaluated patient history.
  • Processes quality control checks and maintains accurate documentation.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and staff.
  • May train radiologic students and suggest process improvements.
  • Ensures adherence to laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Stays current with industry advancements through ongoing education and certifications.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology; preferred completion of a Mammography Technologist program.
  • Minimum two years’ mammography experience including screening, diagnostic, biopsies, and needle localizations.
  • Current ARRT in Radiography; ARRT Advanced Certification in Mammography preferred with a goal to obtain within 12 months.
  • Texas MRT license and current BLS CPR certification.
  • Strong time management, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to perform routine to complex positioning and demonstrate patient-centered behaviors.
