Mammo Technologist I - PRN

About the role

The Mammography Technologist I position at Houston Methodist Hospital performs mammograms, biopsies, and bone density exams, as applicable. This role adheres to MQSA and ACR standards and may assist with quality control activities.

Responsibilities

• Performs mammograms for both diagnostic and screening purposes
• Performs biopsies and bone density exams
• Affixes accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members
• Assists with sterile technique during diagnostic or special procedures
• Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results
• Reports near misses and inputs errors into the hospital's patient safety reporting system
• Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures and practices aseptic techniques
• Contributes to department projects and shared governance activities
• Participates in in-services programs and continuing education

Requirements

• Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s)
• ARRT-R - Radiologic Technologist - Radiographer (ARRT)
• ARRT-M - Radiologic Technologist - Mammography (ARRT)
• CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - State Licensure - Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s)
• Experience: None
• Licenses and Certifications: Required ARRT-R, ARRT-M, CMRT, BLS

Skills

• Strong interpersonal and team player skills
• Effective communication with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers
• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language
• Basic computer knowledge to operate multiple computer systems
