About the Role

As our Mammography Technologist, you will be vital in early breast cancer detection, performing high-quality mammographic imaging with precision and compassion.

Responsibilities

  • Expertly operate mammographic equipment, meticulously position patients, and ensure patient comfort.
  • Perform quality control and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and adhere to safety and regulatory standards for comprehensive breast health.
  • Properly assess the patient and their abilities to participate in the ordered procedure.
  • Provide a clear explanation of the procedure, including duration, process, and what to expect following completion.
  • Verify informed consent for and assist physicians with interventional procedures such as needle localization, aspiration, biopsies, and other invasive procedures.
  • Practice aseptic and sterile techniques as necessary and observe universal precautions.
  • Provide patient education as appropriate.
  • Select proper equipment, set correct technical factors, follow procedure protocols, and gather proper supplies prior to performance of the procedure.
  • Recognize all radiation safety standards including “Image Gently” and “Image Wisely” and MR safety standards.
  • Understand and follow all rules around radiation protection, including wearing lead protection when utilizing fluoroscopy or when there is a possibility of exposure (e.g., CT room, performing portable exams).
  • Obtain clear and complete patient history and record data into the patient record to assist in image interpretation and future patient encounters.
  • Perform quality assessment of images obtained and evaluate equipment issues, reporting assessments to supervisor, manager, or director.
  • Ensure all equipment is in working order at the beginning of the day and prior to starting a procedure.
  • Perform performance and quality tests on equipment as required, including ACR quality requirements.
  • Check all supplies for outdates prior to use and report any shortages, variations, or failures of equipment to supervisor, manager, or director for follow-up.
  • Use the CHI incident reporting system to report any patient injuries, equipment or supply failures, medication reactions or errors, and visitor or personal injuries or exposures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technology Program (required upon hire).
  • Medical Radiographer license in Nebraska (required upon hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR certification (required upon hire).
  • Registered Technologist Radiography (ARRT) certification (required upon hire).
  • Registered Technologist Mammography certification (required within 12 months).
  • Registered Technologist Computed Tomography (ARRT) certification (preferred upon hire).

Pay

$30.76 - $45.76 per hour.
