MALE SUPPORT WORKER
Standard Nursing Agency is urgently seeking an experienced male Support/Care worker for the Brent area to provide personal care and assistance to service users who are children and young adults (up to 18+ years) diagnosed with learning disabilities, physical needs, challenging behaviour, ASD, global development delays, and severe sensory seeking. Many service users use Makaton to communicate their needs.
Responsibilities
- Undertake practical tasks as required, including personal care and activities in and outside the home.
- Assist in identifying individual needs and ensure appropriate support is provided.
- Enable service users to maintain high standards of health care and personal hygiene.
- Perform any task as needed, considering the changing needs of the service.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience with PEG feeding
- Stoma care
- Safe use of hoists and other moving & handling equipment
- Medication management
- Epilepsy management
- Catheter care
- Ability to provide personal care with dignity and respect
- Strong communication, professionalism, and reliability
- Nursing background is desirable (but not essential)
- Report writing
- Learning Disability & Autism support
- Managing challenging behaviour
- Behaviour management
- Good understanding of safeguarding
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 1, 2 or 3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
Requirements
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Minimum 1 year experience in Health and Social Care
- Good communication skills and ability to deliver courteous, caring, and professional service
Pay
- £12.71 per hour (incl. travel) plus holiday pay
