About the role
Serves as Maintenance Worker for Operations (Or Fleet) Division of USACE, performs the duties of a Maintenance Worker which covers the full range of maintenance tasks requiring the application of journeyman level skills in a wide variety of trades and crafts.
Responsibilities
- Works from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms where areas are hard to reach.
- Work requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing and may be performed in cramped positions, under equipment, structures, etc.
- Frequently required to lift and carry parts and items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Operate, install, repair, maintain hydraulic systems, electrical equipment, machinery, mechanical tools, use of tractor, backhoe etc.
- Installation and construction of buildings/structures, as well as modification and repairing of current structures and buildings.
- Maintenance of water treatment plants requiring filtration processes, electrical work, welding etc.
- Modify parts, components, or assemblies in the maintenance and repair of various items of installed, dam operating, or mobile equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot, locate and make basic repairs of electrical wiring, controls, equipment, fixtures.
- Use a variety of hand and power shop tools in accomplishing assignments.
Requirements
- Able to perform the full range of maintenance tasks requiring the application of journeyman level skills in machinery repair, carpentry, electrical wiring, roofing, plumbing, sandblasting and painting, pipefitting, equipment operations, concrete maintenance and repair.
- Have applied a high order of skill to determine reasons for and making corrections to facility (building, structures) mechanical defects and performance problems, including but not limited to basic to complex maintenance/mechanical equipment.
- Experience in how to operate heavy equipment to include but not limited to overhead cranes, skid steers, dump trucks, aerial lifts, and forklifts to safely and accurately maneuver supplies and materials to accomplish repair, replacement or creation of projects.
