MAINTENANCE WORKER - NORTH ISLAND COMPLEX, PART TIME (20-34.5 hours)

About the role

Performs tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, equipment, and facilities (e.g., NEXCOM Hospitality Group). Typical assignments include simple painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.

Responsibilities

• Receives assignments orally or via work orders; selects proper tools, methods, and techniques to complete tasks.
• Performs minor carpentry tasks on doors, windows, furniture, cabinets, platforms, bins, pallets, etc., using tools such as hammers, hand-saws, planes, screwdrivers, and power tools.
• Inspects and ensures proper working condition of equipment, machinery, and facilities through regular walk-throughs and inspections.
• Prepares surfaces and paints interior items such as shelves, counters, and similar items; cleans and maintains painting equipment.
• Assists in the installation and repair of broken pipes, leaky faucets, clogged drains, etc., using tools like wrenches, hacksaws, and pipe cutters.
• Performs electrical repairs to appliances, light fixtures, and switches by replacing or insulating defective wiring; uses test lamps, ammeters, etc.
• Visually inspects repairs to ensure damaged or broken equipment is properly repaired or replaced.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment such as fans, air conditioners, water coolers, grills, broilers, heat lamps, and other appliances (cleaning/changing filters, lubricating parts, adjusting belt tensions, etc.).
• Cleans dust from coolers, ventilation ducts, and cooling vents.
• May perform preventive maintenance on forklifts, hydraulic pallet jacks, and conveyors (checking for leaks, proper fluid levels, brake/clutch operation, etc.).
• Maintains compliance with local safety regulations; informs supervisor of hazardous conditions or unserviceable items.
• Takes periodic inventory of maintenance stock and equipment as required.
• May respond to customer questions regarding the operation of NHG room appliances and fixtures; carries out policies of courtesy and customer service.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Effort

• Required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
• Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

General Experience

One year of experience providing knowledge of general maintenance practices involving the upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, and equipment.

Substitution of Education for Experience

One year of high school education may substitute for 3 months of general experience, up to a high school diploma or GED for one year of general experience.

Specialized Experience

One year of general maintenance work involving simple tasks such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.

Schedule

Part-time (20 - 34.5 hours per week).
