About the Role

This position involves performing minor grounds maintenance, ensuring safe evacuation procedures for children and youth, and maintaining buildings, grounds, and related structures. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, including driving on a military installation and working in a kitchen setting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure entrances, exits, and sidewalks are free from debris, ice, and snow.
  • Maintain surfaces under playground structures according to safety requirements.
  • Teach children and youth safe bus evacuation procedures and conduct monthly drills; document all drills in writing.
  • Notify supervisor of hazards, malfunctioning equipment, or other issues impacting work operations.
  • Operate in a controlled traffic environment on a military installation in all weather conditions.
  • Work indoors and outdoors, exposed to dirt, fumes, and potential kitchen hazards (e.g., cuts).

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required.
  • Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
  • One-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must pass employment verification (E-Verify) and pre-employment background checks, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Current health assessment and immunizations per Army and DoD policy, including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • May work varying/rotating shifts between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Mandatory drug testing; position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP).
  • Must sign DA Form 5019-R (Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program).
  • Valid state driver’s license required (to operate a 15-passenger vehicle) OR a commercial driver’s license (CDL) with no restrictions (to operate a 24-passenger vehicle).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Ability to communicate in English at a level sufficient to perform duties safely.
  • Experience in tasks related to the duties described in this job posting.
  • Proof of education required at time of application; failure to provide will result in an ineligible rating.

Pay

This position falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system.

Schedule

  • Varying and/or rotating shifts between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
