About the role

This position performs minor grounds maintenance, including ensuring entrances and exits are free from debris, sidewalks are clear of ice/snow, and surfaces under playground structures are maintained according to safety requirements. The position requires skills and knowledge to perform a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures, fixtures, and utilities.

The employee will ensure children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus and practice bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis. The employee will also document all drills in writing and notify the supervisor of obvious hazards, malfunctioning equipment, damaged materials, and other situations that may impact work operations.

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, and the employee will drive outside in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a military installation. The employee will be exposed to dirt and fumes and will also work in a kitchen setting with the possibility of cuts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus
• Practice bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis
• Document all drills in writing
• Notify the supervisor of obvious hazards, malfunctioning equipment, damaged materials, and other situations that may impact work operations

Requirements

• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required
• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation is required
• A current health assessment and immunizations IAW current Army and DoD policy, including annual influenza vaccinations

Qualifications

A high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma is required. The candidate must have the ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job is required.

A valid state driver's license is required, and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a 24 passenger vehicle is preferred.

Pay

This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays.

Schedule

The schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends. Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors under different types of weather conditions.
