Maintenance Worker Internship, BBCC Fall Quarter 2026

Maintenance Duties

• Maintains electrical systems
• Performs carpentry tasks
• Makes needed repairs
• Cleans and maintains work area
• Inspects and maintains systems
• Maintains lighting
• Maintains plumbing systems
• Repairs patient electrical and mechanical beds
• Repairs and maintains pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic equipment
• Operates boilers
• Maintains proper chemical and water treatment
• Maintains proper documentation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 1st year MPT student at BBCC transitioning to 2nd year by Fall quarter or a current 2nd year MPT student
• Able to work 16-20 hours per week
• Familiarity with building maintenance, techniques, equipment, and operation of power plants, plumbing, and heating systems
• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical test equipment, use of telephone, intercom, and radios, as well as, electrical hand power tools

Physical Requirements

• Sitting/standing, crawling/kneeling, bending/stooping/crouching, twisting/turning, and repetitive movement
• Frequent walking, climbing, pushing/pulling, lifting and carrying
• Exposure to heat, cold, steam, electrical shock, and a wide variety of chemicals and petroleum products
• Occasionally climbs and works ladders
