Maintenance Worker III
Description
This position is responsible for performing building maintenance and repair including all aspects of interior and exterior maintenance. Duties also include performing various skills in repair and maintenance of new and current construction and includes, but is not limited to painting, electrical, plumbing, concrete repair and the operation of associated building maintenance equipment and vehicles to keep County facilities attractive and safe.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems with failed or broken HVAC equipment, lighting, mechanical, plumbing, etc.
- Diagnoses, repairs, and/or replaces parts in HVAC equipment, lighting, plumbing, etc.
- Inspections and checks HVAC units, motors, fans, valves, plumbing, and lighting on a routine schedule.
- Assembles and moving of furniture, fixtures, etc.
- Routinely cleans gutters, downspouts, HVAC coils, filter compartments, etc.
- Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to his/her work activities and performs all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy.
- Performs other assigned duties.
Physical Demands
Very heavy work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires the use of fingers, balancing, climbing, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
Required Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Three (3) years of related work experience;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.
Licenses/Certifications
Driver's License valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia

While some will perform their regular duties, others may be assigned to report at a different time and location and to perform different duties from their regular jobs. Employees will either be deemed essential personnel and provide services that must continue regardless of or pursuant to a state of emergency or will be deemed nonessential personnel that will be required to report to work in an emergency if they receive an assignment to shelter duty or other duty. This position is benefits eligible.
