Maintenance Worker-Full Time

Help keep our Kroc Center safe, welcoming, and running at its best! As a Maintenance Worker, you'll play a vital role in maintaining our state-of-the-art facility through preventative maintenance, repairs, groundskeeping, event support, and building upkeep.

About the role

The Maintenance Worker is a collaborative member of the overall Kroc team focused on providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers in support of the programs and mission of the Kroc. This role emphasizes all repair and maintenance of facilities, buildings, and equipment and support to other team members to ensure effective operations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs and preventative maintenance procedures on assigned areas and equipment such as restrooms, public areas, trash containment areas, and any public or work area, including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Notifies supervisor when outside contractors are needed for certain repairs.
  • Maintains the appearance of the facility by painting, replacing worn-out fixtures, and other tasks to assure an attractive facility is presented to guests, volunteers, and employees.
  • Serves as first respondent to fire alarms, chemical spills, and hazardous materials spills during assigned shift.
  • Executes the preventative maintenance plan for the facility.
  • Provides basic care to vehicles and tools to ensure proper operation.
  • Performs outdoor maintenance tasks including groundskeeping, landscaping, shoveling, and salting, which includes the operation of relevant equipment such as weed trimmers, lawnmowers, and snowblowers.
  • Assists with setup, tear-down, and change-over for events and programs, housekeeping duties, receipt of deliveries, and other facility needs.
  • Responds promptly to radio calls and other contacts seeking facilities team member assistance, communicating well and being ready to assist with facility needs.
  • Knowledge and use of all proper personal equipment, including wearing protective gloves, safety glasses, and lifting belts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience preferred — OR — any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification or ability to obtain certifications within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army’s insurance carrier.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) preferred within 6 months of hire.

  • This job is performed in a busy community center environment which includes but is not limited to a typical office setting, a gymnasium, an aquatics center, and event spaces.
  • The building is climate controlled, and most work will be done at normal room temperature; however, some work areas may be more humid or of variable temperature based on the activities taking place.
  • The noise level in this work environment can range from low to loud.
  • For outdoor maintenance duties, the employee may be exposed to prevailing weather conditions. The noise level in the outdoor work environment can also range from low to loud.
  • This position requires availability to work days, weeknights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Pay

$21.12 per hour depending on skills and experience.

Schedule

  • Full-time (40 hours/week).
  • Late morning to early evening shifts.
  • Rotating Saturday shifts.
