Maintenance Technician - South Plainfield, NJ

About the role

Georgia-Pacific Recycling is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our South Plainfield NJ facility. We process old corrugated containers (OCC) for export markets using large balers.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial machinery
• Install and align new equipment
• Perform periodic maintenance routines including lubrication
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs
• Identify and prioritize maintenance needs with the operations team
• Meet or exceed production and quality goals while optimizing equipment
• Adhere to safety guidelines and participate in safety programs
• Work in a variety of shifts, including overtime and weekends
• Work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment

Requirements

• Four (4) years or more of experience in mechanical maintenance
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Experience with cutting torches and arc welders
• Experience troubleshooting bearing, chain, sprocket, gearbox, and conveyor issues
• Experience reading and understanding mechanical and electrical drawings
• Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps
• Experience with Baler maintenance/repair (Bollegraaf, American)
• Leadership experience in a manufacturing company
• Two (2) year technical degree or higher in Industrial Maintenance Technology or similar program

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with various conditions
