FLSA Status Non-Exempt, Full-Time Organization Overview The Lake Oswego Corporation is a small, not-for-profit reservoir operator based in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The Corporation manages and maintains a reservoir system used by its member community, operating on an annual budget of approximately $3.6 million. The Corporation's infrastructure is aging, and reliable day-to-day maintenance of mechanical systems, structures, and grounds is critical to keeping operations running safely and preventing costly emergency repairs. Position Summary The Corporation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician with strong mechanical and building maintenance skills to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the equipment, structures, and systems that keep the reservoir and Corporation facilities operating reliably. This is a hands-on, field-based role for someone who can diagnose problems independently, perform quality repairs, and know when to escalate issues that require professional services to the operations manager. The ideal candidate has broad mechanical aptitude (pumps, motors, valves, hydraulics), general building maintenance skills (carpentry, basic electrical, basic plumbing), and the judgment to prioritize and safely handle both routine upkeep and unexpected breakdowns. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Mechanical & Equipment Maintenance Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair pumps, motors, valves, gates, and other mechanical equipment associated with reservoir operationsPerform preventive maintenance on schedule to reduce unplanned downtime and equipment failureMaintain accurate maintenance logs and equipment service records Building & Structural Maintenance Perform general building maintenance and repair, including carpentry, basic electrical, and basic plumbing workMaintain Corporation-owned structures, including maintenance buildings, docks, and related facilitiesIdentify and address minor structural or building issues before they become major repairsSupport upkeep of grounds, fencing, gates, and access points on Corporation property Operational Support Respond to equipment or facility emergencies, including after-hours or weekend callouts as neededMaintain a clean, organized, and safe shop/work areaMonitor and maintain hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipmentFollow all applicable safety procedures and protocols; use required PPEAssist with snow/ice, storm, or seasonal readiness tasks as needed General Communicate clearly with the General Manager on equipment status, needed repairs, and parts/suppliesMaintain professional, courteous interactions with members, contractors, and visitors encountered during workAbility to work independently on duties assignedAbility to supervise seasonal employees to complete maintenance tasks Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, industrial maintenance, or building maintenanceWorking knowledge of pumps, motors, valves, and basic hydraulic/mechanical systemsGeneral building maintenance skills, including basic carpentry, electrical, and plumbingAbility to troubleshoot problems independently and make sound repair-vs-replace judgment callsAbility to safely operate small motors, hand and power toolsValid driver's licenseAbility to respond to occasional after-hours or emergency callouts Preferred Qualifications Experience with plumbing and mechanical systems, dam or reservoir infrastructure, or utility operationsWelding, small engine repair, or heavy equipment experienceForklift, skid steer, or other equipment operation certificationOSHA 10/30 certificationODA Commercial Pesticide Applicators License or the ability to get one within 6 months of hireExperience using CMMS, asset management and work order system software Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to lift/carry up to 50–75 lbsAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsAbility to climb ladders and work at heightsAbility to stand, kneel, crouch, and perform physical labor for extended periodsPrimarily outdoor/field work with some shop and administrative timeMust be available for occasional after-hours emergency response Compensation & Benefits Salary/hourly rate commensurate with experience ($28 - $36 / hr)Benefit eligibility after 90 days: health insurance, retirement match, PTO, vehicle/mileage reimbursement, etc.] Why join us: Small, mission-driven organization with a meaningful impact on the community Varied work in a hands-on, field-based role Independence, trust, and the opportunity to help maintain essential reservoir infrastructure Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
