About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician Lead, you will be at the forefront of our maintenance team, guiding and mentoring technicians while ensuring that our buildings and grounds are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. You’ll oversee daily operations, coordinate maintenance schedules, and tackle complex repairs across various systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. You’ll serve as a crucial point of contact between team members and management, fostering a collaborative environment that upholds our high standards of service and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in completing work orders from resident service requests by diagnosing issues and making repairs in accordance with established policies and safety standards.
  • Oversee the "make-ready" process for vacant apartments, including conducting inspections, creating maintenance task lists, scheduling contractors, obtaining supplies, and ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Develop and maintain cleanliness and appearance standards throughout the community, ensuring all areas, including grounds and common spaces, reflect the company’s high quality.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the maintenance staff, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to optimize operations.
  • Conduct property inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist in training and developing maintenance team members to enhance their skills.
  • Liaise with the Maintenance Supervisor on work priorities and inventory management.
  • Participate in the rotating on-call schedule for emergency maintenance repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Strong technical skills in HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
  • Affordable housing experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in a related trade preferred.
  • Schedule flexibility is required, including the ability to work weekends when necessary to meet property maintenance demands.
  • Must be able to participate in the emergency on-call rotation as needed.
  • Dedicated to exceeding expectations, leading by example, and providing exceptional service.
  • Demonstrates accountability and reliability by taking full ownership of projects and outcomes, prioritizing precision and attention to detail, and approaching challenges with proactive problem-solving.

  • Reliable and committed to doing the right thing at all times.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Pay

Anticipated salary range: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay. The range reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on candidate qualifications, geographical location, and specific responsibilities. Eligible for annual performance bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
