Maintenance Technician III B shift (Wed - Sat)

About the role
The Maintenance Technician III performs preventative and corrective maintenance with minimal supervision on process, facilities, equipment, and utilities such as clean steam, purified water, Water for Injection (WFI), and a wide range of mechanical equipment and piping systems. This includes, but is not limited to, freeze dryers, fill-finish equipment, clean utilities, agitators/mixers, autoclaves, parts washers, and various sanitary design pumps and valves within a cleanroom environment.
This position works closely with engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel and may include operating powered industrial trucks, maintaining complex utility systems (HVAC, plant steam, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, compressed air and gases), and supporting biotech/pharmaceutical utilities.
Responsibilities
- Promote a safe working environment by following all PCI safety procedures.
- Perform highly diversified duties including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of utilities, production, and facility equipment in accordance with site safety principles and predictive/production maintenance systems.
- Perform defined preventive maintenance (PM) activities under minimal supervision; may provide guidance to peers and junior team members.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure facilities equipment and utilities remain in an inspection/audit-ready state.
- Provide troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance for production-related systems (high vacuum, process water, cooling, hydraulics, pneumatics, remote and PLC/HMI interfaces).
- Operate and monitor advanced equipment and utilities; maintain spare parts for uptime.
- Execute basic maintenance activities and support new equipment installation under limited supervision.
- Revise and review existing maintenance and utility system procedures (SOPs).
- Train other technicians on basic and advanced maintenance and equipment operation.
- Coordinate maintenance activities, including repairs and PMs, with cross-functional teams.
- Participate in on-call or emergency response 24/7 rotation with minimal supervision.
- Support and direct on-site service contractors and vendors.
- Perform preventative, routine, and non-routine maintenance on GMP equipment.
- Respond to critical alarms for equipment systems; investigate failures and serve as system expert for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Maintain positive working relationships across PCI Operations.
- Apply working knowledge of cGMPs, OSHA, industry safety policies, and radiation safety techniques.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management software (e.g., Blue Mountain).
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, related program, or technical school/military education with a mechanical focus and 3 years of industrial experience, or 5 years of industrial production maintenance and repair experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
- 5–10 years of previous maintenance/engineering experience; minimum of 2 years in a GMP and/or cleanroom facility preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair manufacturing equipment with assistance from higher-level technicians.
- Experience with hazardous energy isolation and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and control systems (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens) for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot engineering drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and mechanical schematics/equipment repair manuals.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Prior experience using a CMMS system for work tracking and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work on feet all day.
