Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician II role is responsible for performing skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all aspects in an industrial manufacturing setting. Ensuring safety, reliability, and operational efficiency within the facility. This role supports a preventative maintenance program and responds to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Visually inspects machinery, equipment, piping and performing routine scheduled designated preventative maintenance.
  • Discusses machine operation with team, production and management to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical equipment failures or leaks from piping through component disassembly and inspection.
  • Uses technical documentation to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Reviews with team on previous failures to aid in root cause discovery.
  • Follows up on repairs with equipment, communicates with production, observation and monitoring.
  • Performs proper alignment checks and mechanical clearances to ensure correct operation.
  • Researches, develops, and documents new critical spare parts for equipment or identifies proper lubrication techniques and intervals for equipment.
  • Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and other related components to ensure proper system operation.
  • Provides guidance to other maintenance personnel.
  • Applies common sense, understanding to safety, while carrying out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Works in conjunction with outside contractors.
  • Works well under pressure and remains flexible in changing schedules and demands.
  • Performs additional duties or special projects as required, assigned by supervisor or manager.

Credentials/Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent, vocational / technical training preferred.
  • 3-5 years of hand on experience in industrial maintenance or a related field.
  • Driver’s License is required.
  • Provided forklift training, passing certification is required.
  • Understanding of safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA compliance).
  • Preferred Journeyman’s card is desirable.
  • Ongoing OSHA safety training or other relevant industry certifications preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, pneumatics and hydraulic systems using safe troubleshooting practices.
  • Experience with equipment alignment, calibration, and precision measurements.
  • Basic welding, cutting, and metal fabrication skills desirable.
  • Attention to detail, catching small problems before becoming major issues.
  • Excellent communication, reporting issues, collaborating with team.
  • Ability to work as a team or independently under minimal supervision.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and production demands.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with maintenance management systems.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and systems as equipment evolves.

Safety

  • Follow all workplace safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions or hazards promptly.
  • Adhere to lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent accidents.
  • Safely operate tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Participate in safety training and meetings.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and report incidents immediately.
