Responsibilities
- Repairs, replaces, corrects, or adjusts equipment to ensure it operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
- Consults with engineers and vendors as needed.
- Performs layout work for each project as required.
- Troubleshoots equipment issues.
- Meets safety requirements, complying with all policies or regulations set by Simmons or government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle use, food product handling, packaging, ingredients, and related items.
- Participates as a team member in the ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
- Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members and attends appropriate team meetings.
- Fosters strong team cohesiveness on major issues (e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes).
- Identifies areas lacking cohesiveness, brings them to the attention of the team leader, and works to resolve issues in a supportive manner.
- Actively seeks ways to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
- Understands Simmons' operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and maintains familiarity with this position's role in supporting these systems.
- Considers the impact of individual actions on systems and communicates concerns or improvement ideas.
- Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Physical Activities
- Enters and locates information on a computer.
- Visually verifies information, often in small print.
- Manually lifts or moves objects weighing 75-150 pounds.
- Works in extreme temperatures, on feet for entire shift.
- Works in cramped, enclosed, elevated, wet, dirty areas with noise levels above 90 decibels.
Requirements
- Experience or vocational training in welding, electrical or mechanical repair, and refrigeration or hydraulics.
- Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preference for experience in poultry or food processing industries.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Uses appropriate footwear, hearing protection, and other protective equipment as needed or required.
